Abstract

This study aims to investigate the extent to which there is a connection between the discrimination against women from Bangladesh as a victim group of anthropogenic climate change and the attempts to adapt to it and structural violence according to Johan Galtung. The effects of climate change in Bangladesh are discussed in general; structural violence according to Galtung is then explained. The criteria developed here are applied to categories in which women experience discrimination (health, family, education, work and finances, role in society, risk exposure) in order to examine these for structural violence. A connection with structural violence was found in all categories.
