Abstract

Although profit-oriented actions of companies have drastic consequences for the population and victimize the most diverse groups of people in many different ways, these victims are often not given the necessary attention and respect that is given to victims of classic crime. The lack of visibility of the victims is also a problem with the illegal arms exports by the companies Heckler & Koch and Sig Sauer to Mexico and Colombia. In that case the effects of their actions are not seen in their fatality, such as death and illness. This paper uses various victimological theories and typologies to show the difficulties faced by children, women, students and their relatives in Mexico who have been harmed by HK weapons in a wide variety of ways, by analyzing, why and how these groups of people became victims. Ultimately it becomes clear that violence, made possible by entrepreneurial pursuit of profit, requires increased attention in society and science in the future and that the worked-out groups of victims deserve more visibility even if they may not be victims in the classical sense.
